The
supply was less, you couldn't find food, everything
was for the foreign people; the food and the cereals were for export. Money
was much but you couldn't buy anything. Before, everybody worked and they
were receiving a home from the government. Those who didn't work were taken
to prison. The electric power was less but more cheap. At the television
you had at certain hours a program. At radio were more broad cast about
politics; the song were for Ceausescu, were communist song. The freedom of the word You were permitted to speak, it was a better discipline than it is now, because then you had five minutes to speak, and when you talked everybody were sitting and listening. You couldn't hear anything but the breathing of the man; if you talk bad about Ceausescu you go to prison. it was written only by the Romanian Communist Party, they wrote that they will do something which were only lies. You weren't allowed to say anything about Ceausescu, because who was listening to you, denounce you to Security and you go to prison. today the newspaper talk free and nobody realize anything from what is say. the period when you couldn't express your opinions about the leadership

The religious holidays were forbidden to be celebrated
that's why all the people go to the church secretly.There was a fear that
existed everywhere. There was respect and understanding between people
comparative to our days. The people didn't know
the situation of other democratic countries. The news that came from outside
