75 years of building it has demonstrated that communism
is an utopia and leading to it is the way ofrepression
and bloody extermination of the opposites. To
realize it doesn’t seen to be difficult. But again and again
you can hear from different people (mostly elderly ones) in Belarus
the wish to come back to “communist
poch”. They remember only “the good sides”
of the past life: ldquo;material comfort”, “security”
and “equality”, etc.Why is
it so? It’s not easy to give a definite answer. I suppose
there are two reasons for it:a) after the collapse of the socialist
(communism) system and establishing of democratic governments people
realized that they were not ready for changes and could not adapt the
new realities of life. Andas “the new government”
couldn’t give those
people social garanties because the new idea supposes (as the final
of its realization) that people themselves must provide their social
garanties, the social and financial position of lost of people was badlydeteriorated.
Unfortunately, their position didn’t improve after several
years. People didn’t learn to take a responsibility, to
decide and act independently, to do themselves what was done for them
by the communist party. Many of them are ready to exchange their
freedom, right and so on for the possibility to get an income guaranteedby
the state and their social status.b) and there is one more reason: shortages
of the democracy itself. Theybecame even more engraved during the transitional
period. Destabilization of the situation in the country, lack of the
social defense, situation and many others negative consequences of the
transitional period which were dragged on a long time disappointed people
towards
the changes on the way to democracy, and democracy itself.Belarus seems
to get stopped on its way to democracy and we have no
democracy in our republic because all what was done in this direction
was done by communist methods because our country is still ruled by
“post”-communist leaders…

Communism through the eyes of creative
person
I didn’t know much about communism. I tried
to follow the way, the most participants of this project used. This is:
to interview either my friend or my relation. These two aspects coincide
in one person - my mother. That’s why I decided to start with
her. But unfortunately she didn’t dare to assume the responsibility
of being my consultant in this question.
Television helped me: thank’s god, people are still interested
in their past and in order not to go the wrong way twice.I ignorance,
as it is, always gives way to myths, but people need the truth. It was
the program "Top-secret" (NTV, 4. 01. 2001) of Elen Sarkisyan
which gave us the opportunity to get acquainted with the destiny of famous
sculptor Ernst Neizvestnyii. He was the citizen of the farmer Soviet Union,
then he lived in the USA Ernst’s life is a vivid example of
how the so called communist order negatively influenced the destinies
of creative people suffered the most. Further on , I’ll explain
why...Creative personality - is a person, who creates
something NEW, which is conceived as ldquo;wrong”. It happens
because as rule “NEW” is either a new attitude to
somethingalready known, or something absolutely supernatural. Unfortunately,
the generation which lived in the epoch of communism were mostly people
who were intolerant to all deviations from their direct way. They conceited
attitude to life, people, human values, as insulting, not correct, in
other words, “WRONG”. So, it
becomes obvious, that formula of success in a society we
are talking about very simple: one should always obey the rules. Glorification
of leaders, for example, always gave a real
possibility of developing one’s talent, the opportunity to be
popular. The destiny of creative personalities was directed by the so-called
near-art people,
